    Photos for calendar

I'm producing 12 images for a Formula 5000 calendar. The client wants some sort of artistic effects. I'm not overly artistic. Here are a few I'm playing around with. They are all different sizes because we are just in the concept phase. I'd appreciate input from our super creative types or links to sites with these types of images.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, I think so. Not 100% sure though. Kenny Smith on the left (well into his 70's now) and Steve Ross on the right (holds speed record at Hampton Downs - 268m/h in this car on a pretty short track to boot)

I watched the same model when Graham McRae had it as #22 at Levin in '72 / '73 as part of the 8 round Tasman F5000 series. They were fast little buggers - in the good old days they used to run them in the same races as F1 IIRC.

Last year at the NZFMR we had about 25 cars, including an ex Denny Hulme F1 car. It was fantastic. I hope this year will be just as good. The festival runs over 2 weekends in late Jan. This year we are celebrating Ferrari's contribution to motor racing.

If it means anything so far I would hang it on my wall.

    Thanks Mark,

Colin. I'm only going to be able to make the final Sunday. Finally managed to get accredited. PIA all the time. I'm amazed to see what passes for pro photographers at some events I go to. Anyway another topic for another day.

It turns out the guy wants a full graphic design package for these shots - so my price just tripled. LOL.

Here's what I've put together as a montage of sorts. I just love this car.

I've researched it a bit and found out a bit about it.

Built for 1973 season with a longer wheelbase. Graham McRae: raced in UK 1973 (practiced at Misano 10 Jun and raced from R10 Mallory Park 8 Jul 1973 onwards) - Ian Ward Racing early 1974 and modified as "Ward KS1" but not raced - Chris Featherstone: raced in UK 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977 (also raced by Keith Holland UK 1977), Australian series 1978 - Gary Dumbrell (Aus) Feb 1978 - Bob Tomlinson Oct 1978 - Salt Walther Feb 1979: raced in Australian series 1979 - Ray Gibbs (NZ) Sep 1979 - Stewart Lush (NZ) 2000: appeared in practice at the TACCOC Autumn Classic 2002 12 May 2002. Raced in the 2004 Tasman Cup Revival series, appeared in UK 2005, Tasman Cup Revival series 2006. This car wears a massively overstamped plate ending '005'.

Raced by Lush in the 2009 Tasman Cup Revival Series. Chris Hyde (2007-2008 F5000 Tasman Champion) drove 015 in the 2009-2010 Tasman Series for Stuart Lush Motorsport NZ, winning the Australian GP support race. Driven by Lush in the Australian Grand Prix support race 26 Mar 2011. To Greg Thornton (UK) and raced at Invercargill Feb 2013.

    Thanks Mark,

I remember it well - one year I think he lapped damn near everyone at Levin - spun at the end of the straight - and still won. It's quite interesting to compare them with a modern F1 car where the top of the drivers helmet would probably be about level with the top of the windshield in an F5000 car. Would love to see them in action again.

This seems like a job for Daisey Mae, I'm just sayin'...
