    Which Viewpoint

From an artistic viewpoint, which viewpoint is most pleasing to the eye...profile, 3/4, or head-on?

Personally, it's a toss-up between the profile and the 3/4...what say you all?

All three have there merits, but 3/4 profile seems the most pleasing and I think it's because of the eye being more visible.

    I also agree with this.

Plus I would want to reduce the saturation and brightness of the green of the background leaves, which seem somewhat unnatural and distracting to me.

Pleasing to the eye the profile would be my pick. Which looks more eye catching? the 3/4 would be my pick.

I agree both with the pick and the question of saturation. The first would also need substantial cropping--I would get rid of a lot of the leaves on top.

3/4 strikes me as the best. The head-on view is curious... Makes me look twice. With really narrow depth of field centered from beak tip to eyeball and zoomed way in, it could be a really unique shot.

For me it is fairly close between profile and 3/4 with 3/4 drawing ahead because of the clarity of the eye, which has been pointed out already.

However, my vote is for the profile version! For me, the heron's head looks too big in the 3/4, presumably because it's closest to the camera. In the head-on photo, the head gets lost and the image seems a bit odd.
