    Canon G15, I'm in love

Bought a Canon G15 point & shoot about 3 weeks ago and absolutely love it. It has an incredible lens stopping down to F1.8. Really nice not having to carry my DSLR equipment around all the time. Only wish it had a longer zoom range. Took this shot today of Jake the Puggle in an office with one window, no flash hand held in program mode 400iso.

Travis I bought a G15 about 6 months ago and have been very happy with it too. I also use mine where it is inconvenient to use my DSLR. If you are interested in video, you will find the G15 does a very good job with that too (full HD).

The better smaller format cameras of these days can provide some exceptional quality imagery...

That is a really nice, sharp picture Travis, well done.

I have a little Canon S100 and it is wonderful in the right circumstances; I tend to use it "wide open, wide angle, and close to subject" most of the time

But there are certainly occasions when a longer telephoto reach would help (it is just 24 - 120mm FFE, but also very small).

    Cheers,

I have never considered the Canon G series as point and shoots just top line limited zoom bridge cameras. I first saw their products from the G2 Never bought one or considered one because of the optical viewfinder but otherwise .....

    G-series are cool.

    My back-up cam is a G11.

    I LOVE JAKE!!!

Does this little camera have a remote control option?

So far, that is the biggest thing I'd like on a new camera. I think I'll have to stick with point and shoot for the foreseeable future. There are lot's of things I'd love, but the remote is the one thing I think would help the most.

    Thanks!

Yes Gretchen it has one as an optional extra ...it could be standard Canon which permits you to take 'half trigger' and then the exposure depending on how down you press the button .... but if you mean control to make adjustments to the settings maybe not.

It would also be possible to get extension leads, I have a total of fifty feet for mine, and also a digital release device ... remote radio control would also be possible I'm sure. I have Panasonic and have given my Canon away . but since the camera has the connection plug hole there are a lot of options.
