    Hi Werner,

    Welcome to the CiC forums from me, great to have you with us.

    I am guessing this guy (or gal) was in the shade; the EXIF says Canon Rebel XS at 250mm, 1/200s, f/6.3 at iso 800.

    It looks like you may have applied a Local Contrast Enhancement in PP to most of the body, but the head and eye seem to have escaped the selection area* over which LCE was applied
    * is that what could have happened, or am I way off with this diagnosis?

    Conventional wisdom says that if there is a face in any shot, it is what we humans look at first and the eye(s) need to be sharp - ideally that what you need to focus on too, but I accept these critters move fast, so it could have moved after AF lock.

    The composition works for me.

    Hi Dave,

    thanks for the welcome and the hints.

    These little guys really move fast, and are hard to shoot. The lizard in the picture was on the slow side but still too fast for me.
