Excuse me sir, would you like a turtle, with that turtle?

I seized the opportunity for a comical photo of these turtles. The bottom turtle is an introduced Red-Eared Slider, the top turtle possibly is a young of that species. The Western Painted Turtles that are native to this area look very similar, and the young are variable in both species so ID is difficult.

Pic #2 I darkened the reflection, because I feel that it is just a distraction from the turtles themselves, which are the star of the show in the tighter crop. Crop #3 I show the stack and the whole reflection, since in that version the subject is the overall graphic appearance of the stack.

Unfortunately in the "out of camera" photo the DOF is not sufficient for the faces of both turtles, but in the smaller web size it's not as apparent.

    Thanks for looking. C&C welcome.

Well seen and captured Matt. No.3 is fascinating but no. 2 is probably the better shot. Leaves me wondering what happened next.

Good photo's Matt. Definitely #2 for me, you're right in darkening the reflection as it really highlights the turtles and I love the expression on the bottom one.
Mate if you went out today with the intent to see if you could annoy a turtle by placing another on top of it, I would have to say job well done

These are fun and I like your thinking on why you presented them as you did. Great job!

Thank you all! I appreciate the feedback and comments.

These turtles haul themselves up on the logs in the marsh so they can soak up the sun. There are so many turtles that the "parking spaces" fill up after several hours, and sometimes they stack themselves up. In this case, I guess the little one was not about to be denied a sunbath, so it had climbed to the top. When the other turtles left, he was left high and dry, so to speak. After a while, he decided to head off, so he wiggled around until he could get a grip and pushed himself off. Plunk, into the water! Then the big turtle got startled and had to regain his balance. It was a joy to watch.

They're all cool shots. I'm a sucker for a good reflection so like the third one too. Thanks for sharing this one.
