The tallest block in the world

Here's a pano from earlier this evening, showing the tallest block of towers in the world - the tall ones are 350m+

Taken with my favourite lens - the Carl Zeiss 2/35 Distagon. A shorter focal length that my other recent panos on the forum but possibly even more detail, plus better micro contrast, make this my favourite lens for nightscapes. Add in a good compromise in terms of number of shots and the great sunstars that this lens renders and I love it!

This is a 6 shot panorama, with each shot blended with -4EV, -2EV and 0EV exposures.

Plenty of detail on the 7852 x 3243 px original:

    Staggering amount of detail.

    That is magnificent, Phil.

Fabulous work, Phil. Just one question. The pano seems to cut off rather sharply down the middle of a building on the right. Did you have a reason behind that? Dave

Thanks Dave. There was a lot of mess in the foreground right, and all the buildings were overlapping from that point for another 3km to the right so there was no place to make a clean break.

Thanks Mike - I like the light and how the glow of the Grosvenor House Hotel buildings (neon blue) light up the Infinity Tower (the twisty one)

Great job, which tool you used for this panorama?

Photomatix Pro to blend the images, and PTGui to stitch

It's very intuitive, and get good easy results when aligning verticals.

Phil, you and your software and lens did a great job. The image's color and detail are both addicting to look at. I know this is whacky, but when I look at the image I keep seeing a futuristic space launch station with some of the buildings looking like rocket ships.
