    Strange Duck

Went to the beach today to shoot pelicans diving for food and there were none but I did see a strange duck that after a google image search I found out is a surf scoter.

That's a first for me. Where are you Roger? (It would be good if you were to go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.)

When people post up images of, to some of us, new and/or unknown species, it's always good to know where in the world the the bird/animal is being seen.

It is a beautiful bird and you did well with the blacks.

Btw, surely not the only shot you got?

Reminds me of a Toucan. Very cool shot. The color of the water is a perfect complement to the colors in the bird. I'd love to see a close-up of his face and beak.

    Thanks for posting.

Nice find. They are surely a strange looking bird. This is a male, the female is more brown. Around here they stay a ways off shore and come in on occasion. Never captured one myself. Yet!

I got a couple more but they don't come too close and all the shots look fairly similar but here's a couple more, I believe the one shot is a female and male
