Beautiful!
One evening's work. 4 keepers. That's a pretty good return rate.
It's obvious that each of these is worth studying by those of us who feel nervous about taking on really low light photography. But the ability to make a good image in low light is not just about the technical competence. You've still got to be able to put together a good composition, as these show.
Good stuff.
I've been a little quiet over the past 72 hours as my computer was away getting a clean reinstall. At last I've managed to get the latest version of DxO Optics Pro working. Everything is going much faster. Just got the final plug-ins located in the right place in the GIMP. So, DXO - Silver Efex Pro - GIMP. That's the workflow.
So, it can now only be a matter of days before I produce the greatest image ever made. Watch this space!
Beautiful shot "have a guess "
Donald - it better be....
Thanks Donald,
I usually get there an hour or so before the "real action" begins so that I can work on compositions etc. The lowest light means the longest exposure - which means greatest cloud movement, but there are also other compromises ("so little light, so many scenes" etc) - so all I can go is make the best call I can at the time.
Great to hear that you've got that PC reloaded at last. I think a lot of people don't realise that when one installs a program and then uninstalls it that they're not back to where they were in the first place; most programs leave registry entries - DLLs - and even services installed that eventually slow a PC down. Usually a reinstall after a couple of years produces a noticeable speed increase.
Standing by for another great image of yours!
Not sure that I will ever get close to creating images like these.
Simply spectacular
