St Michael's Mount at Dawn

I took this image last January just after dawn. I have had to spend quite a bit of time editing as amongst other things there was quite a lot of noise. I would be interested in your comments and would welcome any suggestions on how I could improve the image.

Have you considered a panorama crop - I think you could easily loose 1/2 of the empty sky and maybe some of the foreground as well although I do lilke the way that draws you into the photo. I also just tried viewing the maximum size in the lightbox and scrolled so that almost all of the sky above the monastery(??) was cropped and the foreground was left intact - Liked that even better. Just a thought

For me the image composition would have been stronger had the path not disappeared before the mount, maybe moving closer so that the path lead the eye to the mount would help?

Noise?...And...so what!
Something like that
I should wish to see with levels or curves and a little high pass filter and a little transform-free transform to get a significant dimension to the mount.

Just a little too much bland sky which draws attention away from the chief elements. I suppose you could get away with a slight crop to the right side and retain the current size ratio.

Although Radu's darkening of the sky does add a lot more interest.

I agree with Helen that a pano would do this justice. I would play with losing about half the sky above the top of the monastery and just above the white text to the bottom, then bring out just the sky so that the definition of the clouds is a bit more defined?

Thank you for all your comments and suggestions. Mark - the causeway is only fully visible for brief periods at low tide, when it is used to take supplies to the Castle. Radu - I like your version although you have altered the proportions of the Castle, which doesn't look quite right to me. I have taken on board your suggestions and produced the following, which I think is an improvement.

Yes i Know... i live in Cornwall the causeway shows up better in Radu's edit so i still think a quick sprint down the causeway would have helped the composition. If a man has to die by drowning for his art.... then so be it

Hey Mark - Sorry I should have seen that you live in Cornwall. I am back in West Cornwall for a week shortly and intend to go back to Marazion and shoot St Michael's Mount again.

Yes,it looks much,much better because the mountain dominates the landscape and you had to show us that.
