Any wabbits in the house? ;-)

We get this multicoloured carrots here at the farm markets in Québec. They're great.

Oh how I wish I could get such colorful carrots! Never heard of them, much less seen them.

Originally, carrots were white. Wild carrots are still white. Orange carrots were 'created' in Holland a long time ago. And promoted by the 'House of Orange' dynasty. Which, for instance, included the Prince of Orange (UK King William III - but I may have got his number wrong).

Other colours have evolved in other parts of the world and are now becoming popular.

    Re: Carrots

The purple and reddish ones tend to taste a bit bitter compared with conventional orange carrots. I grated all of these and made a multicoloured carrot salad with a dressing of oil, lemon juice, buttermilk, mustard, cumin, and Jamaican curry.
