European day without cars events

Last Saturday was the European day without cars and one the most central roads in the center of Athens -Panepistimiou street- was close for cars. It gives a wonderful feeling to see this usually craze due to the traffic jam street with all kind of people enjoying the events and music. The program included live music, basketball, football (soccer) and skateboard fields across the street, graffiti artists, jugglers and many more. The one I enjoyed the most was people dancing tango in the middle of this usually busy road. Some stray dogs (unfortunately Athens has many of those) really enjoyed the dance and decided to accompany the dancers. I guess it is even harder to be careful not to the step on the dog other than your partner!

I shot this one opposite the sun so it was a high dynamic range scene. I chose to overexposure the background to get rid of the unnecessary elements and keep focus on the dancers. Do you thing the high key works here?

Here I tried to incorporate the old lady enjoying the show in the frame between the dancers. I found it a lovely scene.

The street arrow really emphasize the dog lying among the dancers, doesn't it?

Unfortunately this one is blur. When I saw the scene I had no time to change my camera settings (increase the ISO) and since I was in aperture priority the camera gave me a slow shutter speed.


It is my first try in street photography (which I find extremely difficult) so C&C is welcome.

In photo #3, including the dog in the image is so surrealistic. The emphasis on the arrow pointing toward the dog is absolutely, deliciously over the top. Terrific image!

Consider converting to B&W to emphasize the arrow.

Hi Miltos,

A nice set of images. Was just debating about the crooked horizon. But it looks interesting.
#2 & #4 are my favourite. I love the curious look of the old lady & expression of the lady in last shot.
