I almost said "would have been more fun" but, my various trips throughout Luzon, specially on the Bataan Peninsula and to the island of Corrigedor were enjoyable but were emotionally charged. I visited Mount Samat and followed the route of the "Bataan Death March" and felt very close to the Filipinos and Americans who fought and died there during early 1942...
It will be nice if we can take you around for a tour of the Benguet mountains. Let me know when you plan to visit the Philippines again.

Vegetable terraces. While most terraces in Banaue/Hapao/Battad/Mayoyao,Ifugao and in Bay-yo, Bontoc are rice terraces. The terraces here in Benguet province are planted with vegetables.

I would love to visit the Philppines again. It is one of the most lovely and photogenic countries I have ever visited but, the warmth and friendliness of the beautiful Filipino people is the main attraction for me!

BTW: Did you ever visit the Grand Canao in Bagiuo? That is a really fun venue with a lot of local color to photograph!

    Sir,

re: Grand Canao. It's a pleasant surprise you know a lot about the premier festivities of the mountain people around Baguio.

This place , Mt. Sto Tomas, 10kms or so from Baguio city hall, just held their own version of a "grand canao" this recent new year's eve.

Not sure I like the white balance in this one... A bit extreme, even for my taste.

Captured communist-rebel camp. @ Lake Ambulalakaw,Mt. Tabayoc, Benguet, Philippines.
Roughly 350kms north of Manila. Taken when I went back for a solo bike tour around the mountains 10Dec2012.

In the picture is Manong Rudy, a rebel-returnee, now working for the Philippine Army. He served as my guide to his former camp along the banks of Lake Ambulalakaw. Unfortunately, when we got to his ex-camp, it was covered with fog. Pictures taken with Nikon D3100. kit lens:18-55mm.

All beautiful places you've been to. I was born in Cavite but never seen much of it. I have never been back since I left. What a crave for are what we call over here as 'street food' and parols. So next year I will prepare early to have a Filipino Christmas for 2014. Maybe the parols will be cheaper to buy after January 6th.
