Apologies if this has already been discussed, just curious if anyone plans on participating? Sounds like fun...

It certainly is an interesting idea - could arrange for something like that here as well / for the members -

A great concept, understanding others through photography. I will be in Arnhem Land on an aboriginal community but cannot shoot during work hours :-(

Will be very interesting to look back at May 15 2012 in a couple of decades. If I have that long!

Re: May 15th | Photograph the world
What will happen to the photos?
All images will be displayed online for you and everyone to explore. Some of them will be selected for a book, A Day In the World, to be published in October 2012, others shown in exhibitions, either printed or digital. Every single one will be saved for future research and inspiration. The photos will never be used for commercial purposes. They will always be treated with care and respect. Should your photo be selected to feature in a book, we will try to contact you beforehand.
Sounds like they just want to steal everyone's images to make a book , and promote it with a printed exhibition. Most contests, are not for the contestants. Don't forget, they really will 'TRY' to contact you , before they steal your image for their book.

Re: May 15th | Photograph the world
I've got one to send in (today or tomorrow), but the important point I want to make here is that the way these kinds of deals usually happen is that Life or NGS send out "THEIR" photographers and aren't much interested in the world's amateurs and in other commercial photographers than their own. Some folks involved with ADAY have done something similar in times past quite successfully. I don't have any qualms about submitting a photo to their website.
