    Missing Photo's

Is there a way to filter a catalog to show all the missing photos? I have a large data base imported from PE several months ago. I occasionally find photos tagged as missing. So far no problem with finding and reconnecting them, but I am concerned about waiting to run across them. Who knows what may happen to the originals in the meantime. Simply scrolling through Library lets me find them, but there should be a better way since they are already tagged somehow in order to show the "?" on the thumbnail.

So what I would like is a missing photo filter. To make testing easy I have generated a small catalog with some deliberately missing photos. Where do I go from here.

By the way I am running LR 3.6.

    thanks,
    frank

    Hi Frank,

It appears you can do this from the library module:

    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Lightroo...4EF388E29.html

"In the Library module, choose Library*> Find Missing Photos to display missing files in the Grid view."

That should locate all your missing images.

You can locate the catalog entries that apply to 'missing' or moved images that are recorded in a catalog, by going into the library module, then from the Library Menu (top bar) select 'Find Missing Photos'. It doesn't automatically relocate them, but gathers together the catalog previews of all the 'missing' in a separate collection.

The fact they're 'missing or off-line' says that the original images have been moved, manually or with another application, from the folder/directory they were in, subsequent to their having been cataloged (or for some reason the original folder/directory has been renamed outside of LR).

It's best to use LR to make any location changes like that, because LR updates the database accordingly, and nothing goes missing!

    Cheers

Thanks all! This is strange. Earlier before I posted the question I tried 'Find Missing Photos' and got a dialog asking me to locate them. This time I got the 'Missing Photographs' collection, which is exactly what I wanted. The rest is easy.

My first question on the forum was answered quickly. I think I'll like it here!!!
