    Nikon D7000 shortage

    Hi,

I'm going to NY in July or August this year and have been looking at Adorama and BH websites for Nikon D7000. However, there's been some time with the flag of "back ordered" for it in both website. Does anyone know what should be the reason for this?

    Regards,

Carlos, I understand the shortage of supply is related to the impact of the tsunami that struck Japan last year. This disrupted the manufacturing capacity.

Carlos, I bought a refurbished D7000 from Ritz Camera a couple months ago. I is just like new, works great and is cheaper than a new camera. You might be able to get a refurbished D7000.

Donald, I heard of it but this makes me wonder that even with these events both Canon and Nikon have brand new cameras being shipped.

Joe, thanks for the tip. I will also consider this option.

B&H shows them back in stock. My local Ritz has them in stock, on the shelf as well and so does my local independent camera shop. $1199 US$ body only or $1499 body and 18-105 lens.

Indications from websites are the D7000 is made it Thailand. The three stores I usually deal with all have them at the moment. Maybe Nikon just can't keep up with demand in some areas.
