Inspiring images. Wish I could appreciate cheese. My calorie counter indicates that it is a good thing that I don't.
Hi, Chris
I also have been experimenting with some still life imagery (to a lukewarm response thus far) so I can begin to imagine the work you've put in here. I really like the color, textures and arrangements in your most recent offerings, but several of these have some extraneous shadowing creeping in from the margins, which are a little distracting. I've been enjoying your series.

Thanks Kevin and Mike!
Kev- you're right. These were pretty lazy photos, shot in a hurry and in sub-optimal light. I've been really busy but am dedicated to daily content for the blog... so these are more "blog-worthy" than high art- no excuses, I want to get back to more effort in them. Shot some recently that will go up in a week or two that should be better. Thanks!
Chris
Good to see you back. I was away when you posted that set in July, so I missed it.
You post today has allowed me to discover it and this one is a beauty. I think the harmony of tone and colour across the image, as well as the excellent lighting, really make it stand out.
What is that that's in your last image above? Is it a sheep's milk? Looks wonderful.
LOL Frank
Hi Donald and Cheers!
That last is Hoja Santa, a fresh goat milk cheese from, of all places, Dallas. Delicious. Fudgy texture; fresh milk flavor. It's wrapped in leaves of the same name, which taste like sassafras. It's green, minty, sorta like sarsaparilla. You eat the leaf as well, which is very moist. Great combo.

Hey Chris, glad to see you posting again. Now I got the craving for real cheese. I'm heading down to Lanesboro in a week, any suggestions for local cheese?
Hi RT-
If you pass through Rochester, check out ZZest: http://zzestmarket.com/index.htm
There is also a shop in Faribault: http://www.faribaultdairy.com/
If you like blue cheeses, get their St. Pete's Select.
I will check one or both out on my way down, thank you for the heads up.
Did you get to ZZest? I was there last Saturday. Nice shop. The burger in the restaurant was especially tasty. Pretty good cheese selection.
The eagles were everywhere this weekend! Saw an otter, lots of deer. Good color too.
You should consider going north of Big Lake on County Rd 11 towards Santiago, the Sandhill Cranes are massing just south of Santiago
