I didn't like how blurry this turned out... Can you see what is with the eye of the dog?

The problem you have is that the image in the eye is (optically speaking) twice as far away as the eye itself (Looks like you have the photographer in the reflection).
So you can get either the eye or the reflection sharp, unless you use a very small aperture (high F-number) which gives other problems... Easy way to try this:
stick a note on a flat mirror and take two pictures: one with the note sharp, the other with your reflection sharp
