I haven't really ever tried to shoot a football game at night, so I can't speak from experience, but it appears you did a pretty good job of capturing the final moments of the season

You certainly caught a lot of action in that one shot! Terrific focus on the player's face.

Brian, Myra, thanks. This was my first season for football at night. Had a lot of fun.

Looking at the lenses in your sig, I would say that was a very good capture, assuming your lights were anything like what I have seen on high school football fields.

Sorry Brian, I need to update my sig. I used a 70-200mm f2.8 and yes the light is very bad.
    Thanks Frank!

Sport are incredibly difficult to capture well, so many conflicts between shutter speed to freeze the action and a reasonable depth of field i a fast moving enviroment, You have done really well here to get a sharp image of the central subject, however the composition of the shot leaves me asking what is about to happen, is there a tackle ahead of him, especially as the tips of the fingers are cropped out.

Thanks Dave, this shot was one of a three shot burst and the first two were not as tight as this one. I chose this one for the contact of the def. player getting ran over and with the running backs face, eyes and ball in focus. I also like the angle of the player within the frame and reaching as he falls from the tackle. This shot wasn't cropped it is as shot.

Have to agree with fingers, but then is just a picture for you to share or it going to be entered in any competitions? As a sharing picture it is fine and a great capture, but if the thought is for more the fingers will lose it marks.
