    Image Stabalization

I recently purchased a Canon 18x200 with image stabalization but am having difficulty determining if the function is working. I say this because I also have a Canon 100x400 with image stabalization which when used you can actually hear and see the lens lock in.
I do not hear or see this with the new 18x200. Has anyone here purchased this lens lately and have any feedback?
    Thank you

    Have a guess :)

    Hi Judith,

I've used one, but not recently. Assuming it's switched on, you should be able to look through the viewfinder - press the shutter button 1/2 down - and then detect a slight lag between moving the camera up and down slightly and having the image in the viewfinder move up and down. Try it at 200mm - it's quite subtle, but you should be able to see it.

What Colin says will work, the noise you are hearing on your 100x400 is more than likely the autofocus rather than the IS
