    Longannet Power Station

Up and about early (5:30am) this morning. Weather was awful, but then started to clear and was dry by the time I got down to the village of Culross in Fife, which is just along the road from one of the country's largest power station (EDIT - Just read that it's actually the 3rd largest in Europe)

As always, your thoughts are welcomed.

Well, other than more lovely...however, and this is just one of those "I wonder's," but earlier today, Willie posted a rework of an image of three girls on the beach and gave them more top space which really added to the overall viewing impact.

Does the original shot include more top space? I can see this having a bit more top space to really give that smoke and stack a place to rise above the norm...though, again, I would hang this piece as is in a heartbeat. Very nicely accomplished.

I went on Google Maps to see your location and to see if I could figure out where you shot from...did you shoot from Preston Island on Station Path Road, Facing about due west?

A stunning image Donald. Like Chris, I think a touch more height is needed as I get the impression that the image is being restricted somewhat.

According to Google Earth, I was at 56° 3'16.52"N 3°37'55.05"W and, as you say, looking west. And thanks for the PM. That's the one I missed. For everyone else wondering what we're on about - Look right in the top left corner. There's a dust bunny.

And thank you everyone else for you comments.

This one really works for me as it is Donald. Terrific stuff in your own unique style.

The rising steam adds a lot of interest.

Steve, Dave, Dave & Frank. Thanks for commenting.

Steve - The annoying thing is that I just got it cleaned recently. I really need to stop changing lenses in the middle of fields!

It doesn't matter where you change your lenses unless it is a NASA cleanroom. There is dust everywhere.

Great picture. The dynamic of the clouds and the steam or smoke with the big steady power station really work for me.

Robert, Bobo - Thank you for your comments.

On that plume of steam - I saw it as providing balance to the chimney. What I couldn't be 100% sure about was how it would turn out after a 74 second exposure. However, I think the gentle breeze was very kind and gave it a nice curve for me.
