I made adjustments to over 1000 photo's to fix them before I uninstalled the program. I believe it is not completely uninstalling as when I reinstalled (which I have done 3 times now) only once on reinstalment has it asked for my serial number, so this tells me it has not completely been removed.
The next problem is I don't know how to check if it has been completely removed or not.
After fixing that many images and now going back in only to find over 400 in one folder have gone blurry (pixelated) again. Too scared to open too many more folders.

Don't know where to turn next.

Hi Deb, you say that you can 'fix' the images by making adjustments? Are you saying that if you open an image and make any change to it, it then views correctly or is there a specific change you need to make? If it is any change then it sounds like the software is not fully rendering the image unless it is 'touched'.

I did a search on 'Adobe Bridge images out of focus' and found the following in addition to other links. http://forums.adobe.com/message/2846405.

It appears that this is a known, but seldom encountered issue. There can be several causes.

First is the Video Card Driver, regardless of the card you will want to make sure that you have the latest drivers installed.

Second, there are issues specific to the NVidia Display Adapter. If you computer uses this video card you will definitely want to make sure that you have the latest drivers and if that doesn't fix it, contact Adobe with the information from the link above.

Third, the Adobe Cache may be corrupt and you are seeing cached images until you make a change and the new image is cached. You can purge the cache and it will get rebuilt. In Bridge go to Edit/Preferences/Cache/Compact Cache. If the issue continues, use Edit/Preferences/Cache/Purge Cache.

Fourth, there can be other applications that are interfering with Bridge. Try a reboot and not starting any other applications. On the PC this can be forced, it is called Safe Mode, but I don't know how to do this on the MAC. One application that has been reported to cause this behavior in Brifge is Version Cue.

Fifth, you may be running low on memory. Bridge renders the image first as low resolution then re-renders it at full resolution. If the computer is low on memory, it may not have enough to render at high resolution. Low memory can also occur if there are too many other applications running at the same time. Photoshop may be forcing the computer to provide sufficient memory when you change the image as opposed to just viewing the image.

There are other possibilities as well that are not necessarily Adobe's fault and are more computer resource related.

    I hope this helps!

    Frank,

Macs dont usually have a problem with display drivers in the way PCs do due to the way Apple software updates do it for you.

(Deb, you can find the type of display adapter if you click on the Apple in the top left hand corner of your screen> about this Mac> more info and down the left hand side of the box that pops up you will see a list, look for Graphics/Displays and click on that, the type will appear. (mine is an ATI,Radeon HD2600).

Personally I doubt if this is the problem and would leave well alone.

I still reckon that increasing the amount of the cache available to the application (program) or going into preferences to purge the cache if you have not already done so, may give a result.

    Hi All,

Decided to download a trial version of aperture 3. Have done this and would you know as soon as I go into and import images to view they are all pixalated yet the same images are not pixalated in Bridge.

Go figure. I think I have something corrupt on my computer. Think I will firstly have to take it into an apple store and get them to check everything as far as this goes.

If it is the same problem that l see in Bridge on occasion, here is the fix.... When you open the folder and the picture/pictures are blurred.
    1. Right click on the thumbnail for that picture, a drop down menu will appear.
    2. About half way done the menu you will see "Generate High Quality Thumbnail" , click on that. It will take a second or two to sharpen the image.
It works for me and l hope for you also, good luck.

I think you'll have made a friend for life if it works Herman! (although I'm pretty sure we covered setting the prefs to always generate high-quality thumbnails in a previous thread about it though).

    Fingers crossed!
