    The Vibrant Colours of Mortmeirion

    This scene is taken at Portmeirion, an Italian style village in North Wales. The village sits on the tidal estuary of the River Dwyryd. I stayed in the village for a week during July and took many images, all full of the most wonderful colours.

    I love that place, and you have captured a great cross-section of the building styles and colours in this image.
    I like the way my eye is drawn through the archway.

    Hi Chris! That looks like a relaxing place live, no cell phones or tablets in sight, I love it already!

    Nice composition!

    I love this image and especially like the careful (or was it serendipitous) placementof the various people. They add character and scale to the entire image...

    Thank you for your kind words. Surprisingly Frank all the hotel rooms and apartments have internet access as well as satellite television - pretty advanced for North Wales.

    Visited many times. Famous as the location for the 'Prisoner' cult T.V. programme. Beautiful Capture of a wonderful quirky place. Lovely colours, contrast and composition. (Views to die for over the estuary)

    From the plethora of scenes and angles you could have chosen (from what I've seen and read about the place - never visited), you have chosen an excellent location and composed it very, very well.

    And as commented upon by Richard - did you place all those people exactly where they are. It couldn't have been done better. They help take you through the image.

    Thank you for your kind words Donald. To respond to Richard and yourself, I cannot claim responsibility for the "extras", pure good luck I have to confess.

    Hi Chris,

    I like the picture and I agree with all the praise above.

    I hate to be a pedantic b***er, but two things that just detract slightly for me;
    It looks like you missed the 'after rotation' crop/clone; there's a slither of white on left hand edge and also in lower right corner.
    That said, and I know old buildings lean, but a concensus of several checks in different places, leads me to beleive it still needs a slight clockwise rotation to get it straighter.

    Sorry to be a hard taskmaster, I hope you don't mind me raising these things - and I hope you'll do the same for me.

    Re: The Vibrant Colours of Mortmeirion

    Thanks Dave - spot on. I don't know how I missed the slither of white. I was never happy with the "lean" of the buildings, having tried several times to get it right. I will sort it once I get back to my P.C. but thanks for pointing it out..
