    Thailand Tugboat

I took this picture crossing the river in Bangkok. It was a spur of the moment shot that I did not have much time to compose. I really like the photo. I did some PP but am just learning. I would like to get some C & C. Thanks.

Good on-the-spot capture. Tells us a story about an aspect of life in that place.

    A couple of suggestions ....

    • Maybe a counter-clockwise rotation to level up the shore line. I think that would also add to the dramatic effect of the boat coming up towards you.
    • I see you writing that you are just learning on PP. I don't know if you've yet studied the notion of Local Contrast Enhancement (LCE). If not, the CiC tutorial Thailand Tugboathere is excellent for giving you an understanding of what it's about. I took a copy of your image into the GIMP, one of my PP packages, and put in LCE. In my opinion, it really lifted the scene quite significantly. Made it 'pop'.

Thanks for the advice. I leveled the shore line and worked with the LCE. Will have to practice some more but I see what you mean. Here is what I did with the LCE. Thanks for the tips.

Much better after the LCE, what a difference, now it's got a punch. What a colourful boat, you wouldn't like our tugboats

I do hope he's not using the river water

A good capture, better now level.
I think you went past 'natural' with the LCE towards 'painterly', but actually it suits it very well, a good call.

    A very nice result.

    Cheers,
