    The Dump

Car graveyard. Literally thousands of dead cars here. Would have loved to get a shot to show the vastness of this place but there was no place or vantage point to get that kind of shot.

I'd say you did pretty well with that second one, Bobo.

It certainly captures a mood and does convey a very good sense, I think, of vastness and desolation.

Willie or Jiro is fine by me.

There is one famous wedding photographer by the name of "Damien Lovegrove" who also wanted to shoot a scene but doesn't have the vantage point that he needs. What he did was he attached his $30,000 hasselblad with a PHASE 1 digital back to his monopod, hoisted it up above his head and used the camera's self timer to trigger it. This is the shot that he got:

Maybe, this idea can work on your situation, too Bobo.

    Thanks Donald.

That place is HUGE. It is about 1 kilometer in length and 1/2 or maybe 2/3 kilometer in width.

    Thanks Willie.

Had climbed on top of a van for the 2nd shot so with a monopod raised might just be able to grab the entire site.

I did say to the security guard that he might see me again.

He only gave me 15 minutes so maybe will get more next time. But only in good weather - that dirt on the ground is like 3-4 inches thick.

I got an idea: Why don't you take an environmental shot of the guard with the pile of junk cars as the background? Now that would look really interesting! Just a thought. I think I need some more coffee...

You know what ? I did ask him to stand in the middle of the dirt road but he refused. Btw he is sitting somewhere at the end-end of that dirt road in that indentation on the middle top left of 2.
