Not a true crop comparison because of the apparent shallower depth of field in #2, but I will go for #2 since there are fewer distractions from the daisys, which is what you were shooting. The daisies are a little softer in #2, though - but just looking at the crop only, #2 still gets my vote.
I hope this wasn't a test!

An interesting bit of wormification!I prefer #2 as there is less distraction. Did you use flash for these?
I can see a wormification competition/challenge on the horizon...
Thanks for the explanation, Chris. I said 'apparent' difference in DOF because I suspected there was something involved that I didn't fully comprehend. I had never noticed that cropping could cause a loss of apparent DOF or sharpness. Is this because a short focal length was used?
By the way, what exactly is "wormification?" I can't look it up right now because our internet is down and the iPad won't open up another browser window ... at least I don't know how.
Thanks again.
I would guess they mean a "worm's eye view" of things.
#2 is better.
A worm's eye view indeed...very much in line with Jiroising or having a Marshallesque similarity in a reflective work...we make up words as we go which given the international nature of this forum, probably isn't such a good idea.
