    Fireworks Last Night

I like the first image best in terms of clarity and structure, but I also like the last two because of how a sliver of the moon is also captured and how well it stands out against the brillance of the fireworks.

Beautiful shots, Chris. I prefer #1 as well. For me, the silhouette of the pillar in the center makes the biggest difference. Initially, my mind registered it as a person standing there, watching. Then I noticed the water. The warm sunset like tones work well with the lights in the buildings as well.

When taken well like these, fireworks give wonderful shots.

    Very nice shots Chris.

What was it about the scene that helped you decide on using f11 and ISO 400 ?

    Thanks.

Seemed like a good aperture. That lens seems to focus best at that aperture for moon shots. ISO..just felt like I might need a faster speed...most likely could have stayed at 100 and gone longer on the exposure. First time for shooting fireworks digitally.

    Chris,
Nice compositions. The one I took are not as nice. They are taken at "The Ballpark in Arlington", home of the Texas Rangers.

Thanks Chris. I will experiment a bit more next opportunity. For the Canada Day ones that I took, all were at ISO 100 but f8 and between 1-1.6 secs. Moved around a bit for different angles. The least obstructed were these - definitely not as good as yours or Sams though.

Bobo, #2 is really nice - it's crisp and clear and no smoke. Very nice.

    Thanks Mary.

Yes drifting smoke is always an issue. Thankfully this time most of it was confined to the lower parts like in 1 and 3. So it was either point the camera to a higher angle and have no foreground or ... decisions, decisions...

Clive - that is a good capture with the smoke complementing the scene. Nice.

    Excellent additions .

Sam..Both yours are really good ,the second one is superb, same with yours too Bobo -I particularly like the first one showing the silhouetted onlookers, having them in it adds to it immensely.
