    Shot yesterday at Pontneddfechan Falls.

    ON BLACK

    After the fall

    Canon 5D Mk2, 24-105mm, B+W 10 stop filter, 30sec exposure. Very definitely a solid tripod.

Yes, I was in the water. I had my rubbers on, which are about 15inches high. The water was about 20 inches high. It was very cold. On top of that... the 10 stop filter works by taking an exposure in manual mode without the filter to get the settings. You then turn the shutter speed dial 30 clicks to get 10 stops increase in exposure (third of a stop per click = 10 stops) then carefully screw the filter back on so you don't drop it in the water It was also very slippery.

Here's another from a different falls about half a mile away - there are about 10 falls altogether.

Agree with the crowd that #2 is a standout.

I'm fascinated that some surface waves are still visible even after a 30-sec. exposure.

Do you mean the waves in front of the large rock? It's probably because the water was relatively slow-flowing there so the blurring of the water is less than the more open areas. I didn't think the 10 stop would work on waterfall shots (thought it would just be a blurred mess). You can cut down the exposure time by increasing the ISO (this one was shot at ISO100).

Manfrotto 055XPROB, which was about £125. http://www.testfreaks.co.uk/camera-t...otto-055xprob/ And a Manfrotto 804RC2 head http://www.google.co.uk/products/cat...=1390&bih=749# It's a solid bit of kit. The tripod is great for low-down shots such as floral as you can get almost down to ground level (7cm, I think). You can 'pull out' the central vertical arm and reposition it vertically to provide an extension side arm.

*%$@*&% %$^& Rob....I was living in dread of the day I would have to admit liking an image of shiny rocks and fluffy water....I just knew it was going to be one of yours. In fact I more than like it you rotter.

What tripod / head do you use?
It doesnt matter - he could still get this result using a pile of broken house bricks.

Actually in defence of my irrational aversion to the fluffy water syndrome I see so many (if not the vast majority) that are just mediocre its as if the photographer thought "get oohs and aahs quick scheme - I dont have to bother with applying skill." This just oozes quality - whats not to like.

OK, let's see how observant you guys are. There is very definitely something wrong with it. Can you spot it? Anyone.

Many thanks for the kind words, Steve - and everyone else. I have a better one (I think) which I will post later.

So - what's wrong with the shot?

Its water and its fluffy (ony kidding)

Well there is some bright seepage next to the border top left and you have left your wedding ring on the rock in the centre. Would definitely take the water fall right up to the right border and I might even think about doing the same at the left - but its a heck of a cloning job Oh and you forgot voluptuous blonde showering underneath the fall

    But apart from that.....
