I like both the B&W and color images just about equally!
Been there done that. Spent 3 days in Venice, loved it but...I'll go back to Rome any time. Rome is big enough to dilute the tourists and still have local restaurants that serve amazing food. Like you if they have an English menu, I move on. Even NYC can become too much with the tourists (58.3 million in 2015). I only grudgingly will go north of 34th. FYI, I took the train from Venice to Rome, an interesting story to go along with that trip but well worth the ride.
Thanks for the additional comments.
Jack we are taking the fast train back to Rome. This afternoon as a matter of fact. We've used only public transportation and bicycles on this trip. It's been nice not having to deal with driving, parking, etc.
Compare that in a simple way with Venice. NY has about 10 times as much tourists as inhabitants, Venice 500 times. If you take the same ratio NY would suffer under 5 American/English billions or 5.000.000.000 tourists. And what if you also take in account the time they spent.

George, somehow I don't think that we're going to solve the world's problems in a photography forum. Besides history is full of martyrs who have attempted to save mankind from its own insanity
Suffice to say, photographically speaking Venice is an awesome place to visit and I highly recommend it. But better hurry before it is outlawed![]()
I don't intent to solve any problem, at this moment. I just don't want it to be denied. For many cities in Europe it's a nightmare.
I agree with you it's a wonderful place to take pictures. It's a place with history.
I've been there in the seventies. For many years it was the last time I went to Italy.
If you are back in Rome and see the Colloseum, you should wonder about their used logistics. Games started in the morning and lasted until in the evening. About 50000 people sitting there for about 12 hours. They must eat, drink and go to the toilet. Many of the games where bloody. Up to 1000 cadavers a day of humans and big animals. How did they control that? I've not been there yet.
Show the photo's.
