I like this John, very unusual shot but well spotted and captured!

Artistic is what I will say...is this an on-camera setting?

    Hi Izzie,

No, typical capture and processing. Thanks for commenting.

    Different but it works John.

Does it need straightened just a bit?

    Hi Jim,

Thanks for commenting, I did a bit of straightening but it made the lighthouse off kilter.

    WOW!!
Well done, John. This is a totally different perspective! I would have taken a photo of an ordinary lighthouse and missed the flowers in the foreground and come up with an ordinary photo of a lighthouse. You have made the flowers the focus of the photo and it comes up really well. It looks good in monochrome. I like that!

    Lovely photo!

What colour were the flowers really? Can you put a teeny bit of colour in the flowers and fade out to grey behind them?

    Hi Rachel,

Thanks for commenting, Are you thinking selective coloring? See colors, I left a bit of the rail to maintain the offset.

    Re: Patterns

    They're lovely!

I'm not great with using software, so my first attempt would be a layer mask over one or the other with a gradient to leave the flowers coloured - even if only very slightly, and the rest B/W. I'm sure there are other ways to do it though.

Here is a selective coloring version.

    Re: Patterns

I think your first, B&W version was better. The monochrome lighthouse looks as if it was just that, a monochrome lighthouse. I could suggest that you fade the saturation in the flowers, but I think that the first version would still be better!
