Some roses for Irene Eva (ied) and Alan (Alwaysonauto) for C&C folks...

These are some flowers that I took in Australia in front of my son and DIL's house..I add some vignette in these to put the concentration on the flower...hope you all do not mind..it is the only effect I use on all of them apart from James Edward's action sharpening...

    1 Yellow rose (of Texas?)

Some roses for Irene Eva (ied) and Alan (Alwaysonauto) for C&C folks...

    2 Orange/Red variety

Some roses for Irene Eva (ied) and Alan (Alwaysonauto) for C&C folks...

    3. Pinkish white rose with a bee...lost my macro lens on the way to Oz at customs

Some roses for Irene Eva (ied) and Alan (Alwaysonauto) for C&C folks...

4 The obligatory red rose -- Mr. Lincoln. I advised my DIL to buy one of this because it is the first ever plant I have ever have planted in my life. It has a nice scent too. I didn't like the vignette in this one at all. I feel like I have not done justice to its scented beauty...

Some roses for Irene Eva (ied) and Alan (Alwaysonauto) for C&C folks...

5 Who can't live without a purple one in the garden as pretty as this one...

Some roses for Irene Eva (ied) and Alan (Alwaysonauto) for C&C folks...

Thank you all for looking and commenting...
    Cheers, Izzie

Very nice Izzie, but just my take on it, I think the vignette is a tad strong, but the colors are beautiful and you even managed a bug

Thanks John, Barbara and David...'appreciate your comments.

Barbara...I had a new lens and a new camera at the time (it was new to me) and didn't have a clue what I was doing. I am glad it turned out OK...

David...I am with you on the vignette...it wasn't that harsh on my laptop...(hehehe) but when I finished uploading, those vignette looks disgusting...

    Cheerios...

(ignoring the vignettes) #3 and #4 for me - my lady loves roses so all ours are old varieties that have scent,- thats a fundamental part of roses, the classic red cant be beaten for being 'a rose' and you certainly nailed the colour on that one

I love the colours you have captured. Agreed on the vignettes - is this what is causing the halo on the bottom petals of the first image ? I'm not sure the second image works with so much out of focus in the foreground and it bothers me a little on the 4th image. Also is there a little green fly on one of the petals that could do with a cloning tool ?

Izzie, please tell me if the problems are the result of my monitor...
#1 has a eerie purple, fringe along the bottom of the bloom.
#2 has some overexposed edges to a few petals.
#3 more overexposed edges and fringing on lower right petal.
#4 like you say, an ugly vignette.
#5 like the colors, but not nuts about the intrusion of the leaves and artifact on lower petal.

Take all that with a grain of salt because I dislike doing flower images in situ...

Ahhh...... Thank you Izzie. It would make a lovely bouquet with a bunch of baby's breath thrown in.
I have most of those colours in my garden of 75 except for the orange red one. Now to find one
in someone's yard and propagate it !

After all the snow this year, it sure is nice to see some beautiful flowers! My favorite is the 5th Izzie -- the color is just gorgeous!

I do like them all, especially #1. I am looking at them on my tablet, and had not noticed any vignette!

Dear Matt, Mark and Kaye...thank you so much for your kind comments and sharing your preferences.

Matt -- the vignettes are killing me too...I should not had put them in so I spend a few hours this morning trying to edit from scratch.

Mark...I agree. Classic roses are the best for scents and varieties. I have quite a few in my own garden but we are just starting into spring so no flowers yet...

Kaye, I have no idea what went wrong...but I tried to edit some this morning. I think I am a bit overwhelmed so I only did 4 of them.

I appreciate your critiques... Thank you so much.

William...I appreciate you comments. I did not notice the fringe when I first uploaded the image....I will want to redo the blown out parts and reshoot instead but I can't...that bloody pond is too wide and long for me to swim.

Irene...that is what I used to do when I was in Oz living there full time -- I take a secateur with me on my dog walks so I can snip a few stems. Fortunately I came upon some neighbours who are pruning and I would ask for some stems to propagate. I am good at propagating...really! but not really a flower shooter. 75 varieties!!! You must live in quite a good acreage to accommodate your collection!

Thank you for your kind words too -- Kim, John, Alan and Binnur....truly appreciate your comments.

Alan...by the way I was doing post processing this morning, I sometimes think it is not the shot that makes the photo but the processing...my originals looks pale in comparison to what I had turned out here and edited.

Edit of some shots...no dastardly vignettes...

    1 Orange red

Some roses for Irene Eva (ied) and Alan (Alwaysonauto) for C&C folks...

    2 Mellow Yellow

Some roses for Irene Eva (ied) and Alan (Alwaysonauto) for C&C folks...

3 Purple -- lot of work here and I am not happy still....

Some roses for Irene Eva (ied) and Alan (Alwaysonauto) for C&C folks...

4 and last but not the least...the buggy one...

Some roses for Irene Eva (ied) and Alan (Alwaysonauto) for C&C folks...

Here's hoping the improvements are to your liking this time around....it is too overwhelming doing the same flowers over and over again...

Beautiful roses! It is soooooo nice to see the bright colors of summer again... I'm done with winter! The pink and red stripped rose reminds me of my favorite rose in my great grandmother's garden when I was six or seven years old! Brings back beautiful memories of a wonderful women... She delighted in the beauty of flowers, and it's a love that's been passed down through several generations. Thanks for sharing!
