    Tulip

    So here is the first shot of a Tulip this year for me, I have been so busy elswhere. I was going for something a little moody with early light. I really have never focussed on flowers much but do enjoy all that I have seen here and figured I would give it a go. C&C very welcome. The lightbox is the only way to go. =}

    Very nice pic of Tulips.
    We've had so much rain, snow, wintery mix of weather here in Spokane, only the hardy dandelions are blooming.

    Thanks Don. I spent some time on the Airforce base in Spokane as a kid. Dandelions are in full swing here as well, we can both hope for a break in the rain.

    Well, Paul... for 'giving it a go' you did great. I like the curves and the balance... I love the color and softness.

    I really like the transition of color between the pink/lavender and yellow..... and the ever so slight bit of sun just accentuated it.

    Re: Tulip

    Are they smaller tulips? I know when we were in WA, our tulips were often times smaller than what we have here. I didn't know if it is the variety or the cooler, wetter climate?

    These are smaller, however it must be the type because we have some the size of a small dinner plate as well. These buds were maybe as big as my thumb.

    James, thank you. You did a nice job with exposure here. It can be difficult to not get a little blown and still get the colors as vibrant as you have.

    Thanks Paul I wish I had a better eye for composition, Itook maybe 20 shots and after seeing your tulips I realize I didnt try to compose them . I will work on that.

    Re: Tulip

    If you can get used to leaving a little extra room to crop if you see a slight better comp after, it will sometimes save you. However, yes I am still working on this myself. This particular shot was very tight within a few other flowers that I did not want but couldnt quite get the shot with out them edging in so I took it a bit big and cropped.
