    Help ID these guys?

Not good on naming the fowl but thought these guys were kinda cool looking. I think I am going to need a bird book. C&C welcome and appreciated.

I don't know what they are either, but they are certainly good images.

Hi Paul - according to my trusty little reference book what you have here is a Pied-Billed Grebe. Cute little guy, I've never seen one around here, but the book says their habitat is right across the Northern States and Southern Canada east to west. Nice shots, I like the reflection in the first one but the second one looks pretty good too.

Thank you Mary. Will I was stalking the Blue Heron I had these guys cruzin by from time to time. They just did not see me till it was to late. I did have a good ol' Mallard nearly land on me and then would not leave me alone. nearly spooked my target.

Thank you Wendy for the C&C and the name info, they are cute with the bigger head than body.

This is the pesky duck that nearly landed on me and the set himself right infront of me....I am talking less than 2 1/2ft' These shots were taken by laying down backwards to lengthen the distance and get him in the frame.

The Grebe is very cute. The Mallard must of wanted his 15 seconds of fame.

The first Grebe picture is very nice. The color balance looks good with the reflection. The second photo looks clean and crisp. The Mallard shots are almost 3D. I like it.
