    Chris, I think I wish the cat tail to have been positioned so you could have included the tip as it feels somewhat cut off to me.

    I like the colors of the first image but agree that it looks cut off. Maybe that is what you were going for?

    How much further upwards would you have to go to see the tip? Maybe a 2 x 3 crop might work better in that case. But is there then a patch of blank overexposed sky which would ruin the effect.

    The shades of green in the first option look good but I think they become a mess of similar tones in the B&W although the main subject area does appear to have more contrast in monochrome.

    I do like both. The lack of tip does not bother me at all. The b/w conversion is by far the stronger image. Strong contrasts, great depth and complementary forms. The focus blur in the second image is very fluid. Used my magic marker to tick the box for No2
