    Re: A photo for comments...

I hope those who posted above can now see Gurvinder's image in his post.

I like the idea behind the image. There is a nice line taking us through from the front to the back of the scene.

One question I would ask is about the choice of aperture in terms of the depth of field. I see that you shot this at f11. I think it was quite correct to choose to blur the background. However, I wonder if it was the correct choice to also blur the foreground?

You certainly had enough light to have taken the aperture value down to f16 (at which you could have shot at 1/250s). This would have increased the depth-of field and you could have got the foreground in focus.

All of this is, of course, a matter of choice and of preference. You may have wished to have the slight blur in the foreground and I fully respect your right to make that artistic choice.

    Hello Donald!
Thanks for your comments... It would have quite a treat to have taken another shot with foreground in focus; my idea about keeping focus in the middle was to provide a sense of depth...
I am quite delighted to read your comments. I have ordered another prime lens, so that I could create more bokeh, since creating portraits and nature pictures would interest me.
I would try my level best to be regular with posts...
    Thanks and regards,
    Truly,
    Gurvinder Singh.

It seems that this gremlin that appears to strike some people at some times is at play here again. I know that Sean is very aware of it, but it is proving to be a bit of a mystery.

    Hi Katy,
    I am so sorry... :-(
Wonder what can I do to display my images...
Maybe, I can create a blogspot entry too, and post same link concurrently... :-|
hmmm.... I could see the images on my system, (which uses Safari on Windows 7 Ultimate...) so I erroneously believed everyone else too could... :-(
Will try to see what I can do to make my images available to all the fraternity!
    Regards,
    Gurvinder Singh.

    Hi friends,
I am sorry for redundancy in this thread.
I am new to this site, and had trouble posting pictures; but now, I guess, finally, I have been able to bell the cat...
    Am attaching another photo..
    C&C are welcome...
    Thanks and regards,
    Gurvinder.

    Hi Gurvinder

Still nothing this end. I used get this problem all the time with Wendy's (ScoutR) posts. I just could not see them even though others could. Not much help I'm afraid.

Don't Worry Gurvinder. Sean must be taking care of it.. He always does that, sneakingly. He is too humble to take any credits

    Re: A photo for comments...

    Hmmm....
I have followed the exact procedure as described in the forum guide about posting photos... First posted on Windows machine, tried to see myself as guest from Mac, and found blanks... :-( So, I got onto Mac, and posted again; this time I could see photos on Windows machine too...
Am a bit lost as to what to do next...
Hopefully, tomorrow would be another, and better, day!
    Regards to all...
    Truly,
    Gurvinder.

    Re: A photo for comments...

    Hi all,

Sorry you're having problems, Donald just PM'd me to come and have a look-see at this.

Just to satisfy my curiosity; is everyone that is having problems seeing Gurvinder's pictures actually logged in to CiC as themselves when these problems are evident?

    I ask because when I initially viewed as a guest with;
    Chrome (10),
    Flock and
    Safari (5),
I couldn't see any of the pictures either.
That seems to be a fairly standard feature of pictures hosted at CiC and since I always log in, it doesn't affect me.

However, even when I did log in, F5 and Ctrl-F5 didn't make the pictures display, but I found that by opening Gurvinder's profile in a separate tab, then viewing his gallery, this prompted the other thread (in the first tab) to display the pictures (all of them) with a simple F5 refresh. Now that seems "odd" to me.

I have IE9 too, but when I opened it, that thought I was still logged in (from an earlier time) so the pictures displayed immediately.

Gurvinder - firstly; this is not your fault (as you'll have read, it affects Wendy's pics too), but this has allowed me to explore things a bit further.
Sean - any thoughts on the "odd" behaviour?
Donald - thanks for the PM

Geoff, Steve, Sahil, Jim and Katy - could you all let us know whether logging in and following the view album process works for you please? Perhaps try with Wendy too?

    UPDATE:
One more thing I just noticed, Gurvinder's Album is Private, maybe that explains some of the behaviour afterall.

    Many thanks,

I am logged in and also can not see them. I wonder if you are right and having a private gallery has something to do with it. Seems a logical possability.
