I've looked at this a couple of times, and I keep coming back to the same thing - why is he holding down the paper with THAT finger!?
Is that some kind of gradient sharpening you are doing there?

I think he's giving me the "bird". The added effect is what you call bokeh. Thanks for viewing, Brian.

Haha! I was going to make a comment, but being new here, I didn't know how it would be received...

I was going to ask if it was the sketch artist flipping Jiro the 'bird' or if Jiro PS'd his other three fingers out to flip someone here the bird.

Anyway - interesting shot Jiro. When I first saw it, I honestly thought how similar it was in content to my shot of the woman making the batik. That 'glance over the shoulder of an artist' shot. I found myself comparing my photo to it in an attempt to try and identify those elements we discussed that I could have done better with mine.

So I guess I'm asking if that PS'd 'bird' is for me... hahaha! just kidding!

Hehehe. that finger pose was actually real. I used to draw architectural plates for architect students before in high school to support myself on my studies and I remember doing that too whenever I want to delicately support or hold a plate. I'm not that rude to do the finger on anyone... sometimes. LOL! Just kidding.

Very interesting shot ,labeled sketch artist, yet I am drawn to his work. I would call it....The sketch. I really like the perspective portrayed here .

There are two main subject in equal existence to each other, the sketch, and the artist; hence... the sketch artist.

an interesting shot Jiro, whilst the sketch and artist are in sharp focus to draw attention to the main subject i find a lot of blur to the left hand lower side, yet further up the left hand side on the same plane there is no blur, it reminds me of some lens baby shots,
just as the shirt has blur which could be caused by narrow DOF yet the blurred neck part is on the same plane as the head and part of the sketch which is in sharp focus, its a lovely pic tho, especially the decisive moment as he writes his sig, cheers martyn
