Canon -v- Nikon -v- Others: TEAM CHALLENGE

OK - time for a bit of friendly rivalry

I'm going to try running a weekly team challenge, and see how it goes.

    The rules are simple:

    1. Post an image that you've taken in the last 28 Days here, and mention somewhere whether you're a Canon / Nikon / Sony / Other team member.

    2. At the end of the week (probably Monday morning in my time zone) I'll lock the thread - and then people have 24 hours to tell me in a PM what their first, second, and third choices are.

I'll use a 3, 2, 1 points system to accumulate points for the images voted for - and the next day announce both the winning photo and winning team.

Prizes: Winning photographer gets unlimited bragging rights for the week, and gets to choose the theme for the following week. And the winning team gets to retain the CiC Virtual Team Cup for the week (and no doubt, unlimited bragging rights!).

People can't vote on their own photos, and are encouraged to vote for submitted entries based on the merits of the image (using whatever criteria you deem appropriate).

This weeks theme is "A photo with a person or people in it".

Any questions? No? Good - let the battle begin (of course with Canon being the better system, I suspect that they're going to win easily! (and no, I won't rig the vote!).

Ohh - I see that the Nikon camp are already hitting below the belt by using baby pics

The funny thing is that in about 13 years time it's often the parents with exactly the same expression on their faces! (Teenagers - Aaaaaargh).

OK Canon boys - Raycer & Nikon will win by default unless we do something about it! This is what you've been trained for ... MAKE US PROUD!

Instead of private messaging you on what photo the people think is the best why don't you create a thread with a poll so people can vote vote for the Team that has the best photographs from their point of view. (You can repost the images in the voting thread using the same links)

I can organise this weekly if you like as I've done something very similar before.

And be prepared, I'll be entering for the "other team" under Pentax

Thanks Phillip. I might go to something like that eventually - I'd need to understand it a bit better, and to think through any loop holes etc (eg Pentax users voting more than once )

Hi, I think we're just 2 members using Sony. Do we get some points? are we not also supporting the minorities?

Now I don't usually "do" people so this is purely to show some support!

Anyway at the Manchester Chinese New Year celebrations yesterday, I spotted this hapless Canon user trying to navigate the awful menu system or perhaps he's just chimping. "Don't like that one, that one's aweful, jeez did I take that?!"

One for the NIKON team. The title is "Out", the look on the face says it all.

    @ Raycer

I,ve since discovered that he was viewing the histogram. He was tracing the peaks and troughs and was heard to go "Weeeeeee!"

Come on guys and gals, get into the spirit. If anything I think this pokes more fun at other sites that actually takes Canon/Nikon/Olympus/Sony/Pentax/Whatever seriously.

Am I allowed to post with images from my Fujifilm Finepix Z20fd? (This camera lives on my belt, JiC!) or will that make me a double agent?

    The Canon-guy seems to wonder
"error 99..........why didn't i noticed the preceding 98 errors?! The errorcounter is an error itself."

You just got Pentaxed! For Team: Other.

Just for reference I've got a k10d. And Heres my shot of a person riding a motorbike.

    motorbike.jpg

By the way, some of you haven't stated who or what team you've entered for. So we won't know what team we are voting for if we chose one of your photographs.

Yes - I'm doing the points in such a way that "other" teams won't be disadvantaged, so long as they have at least 3 entries

Excellent work so far folks - Keep em coming!

It's been mentioned that some haven't stated which team they're batting for - guess I'll just have to assume it's Canon unless I hear otherwise

Yeah - what the heck; the more the merrier (counts for the OTHER team though!). That could be a loophole to ensure you're on the winning team; join ALL of them!

I hope you can solve it easily.

For the UK-people on Cic: a snowman is also a person. Or do you need some more snow?

Dead easy - just turn the camera off and on again. I've had them with all my cameras over the years - probably averaging 2 or 3 a year. No big deal - I make a LOT more mistakes than the camera does!
