Welcome to CiC, I assume your first name is Mark but if you revisit My Profile you can include your name under Real Name. We tend to use this in posts to keep the forum open and friendly. Also if you re-read the Help thread on posting images you will see how to post larger images rather than thumbnails.
This is a nice shot, the colours are great, as you can see a little bit of red goes a long way. I would try to lighten the bird the make it stand out against the strong red in the background.
Very Nice!!! The colours and composition are wonderful, but I agree with what Peter said about trying to get the bird to stand out a bit more, especially around the eye so that is the first thing that catches our attention.
Nice work, hope to see more, backyard birds are a favourite project of mine, and I'd be thrilled with this shot

True... Despite the bright red colours in the background its the eye of the bird that draws my attention. Nice shot...
Great shot.
Hi Mark,
Yes a nice shot which I felt well worth a bit of PP, this is what I managed on the jpg, you could do a better job with the fullsize image;
I worked on it in PS Elements and duplicated the layer, erased the bird from the top layer, then working just the loweron the lower one; I moved the grey and white points in Levels to get a brighter bird, then enhanced the local contrast, and sharpened. Flattened and Saved As jpg again.
If you're not used to PP, its shows what can be achieved with a $70 program.
Any questions, just ask.
