    Into the mist

    Going through some old shots and I like this one. It has some kind of artefact though - banding or something. I know it's a fault but in this shot it doesn't really bother me. I'm never sure about how it shows up on other monitors though. What do you think? How does it look to you?

    It's atmosphereic reflection of the water, sky literally bouncing off the water vapor (fog). I had fits with it last weekend. It basically tosses the light everywhere. One thing to watch for is your lens getting moist...I had that problem once or twice while shooting in heavy fog.

    Yes, it's there and it's sort of blotchy. Its definitely something to do with reflection as the above-the-birds is more-or-less mirrored below them. Chris' explanation makes sense.

    Its the simplicity (and I mean that as a huge compliment, for the avoidance of doubt by anyone) that is its beauty.
