    A brief walk through Cambridge

    Hi all,

I had a free afternoon so I went for a quick stroll through Cambridge. I tried taking some pictures, while avoiding the standard "tourist" shots. It would be great to hear what others think of these:

    Hello, Ben,
The first picture has a huge problem: we are in Cambridge IN COLOUR! kidding!

I liked the pictures. The third one is very nice, I like images which lead me somewhere. The fourth is interesting too, I can hear the senior couple talking "Hey, dear, what are you buying for me to celebrate our gold anniversary?".

    Be welcome!

I like the one of the professor #2 and the one under it. Cool wavy shapes, I like a lot. I've been invited to the Pitt building for cocktails and feel sad because I love Cambridge but it is too far.

My old university isn't quite as nice as Cambridge but it has its spots, I will see if they will let me wander about with a camera when I go for tea in April.

We might have passed each other - I was taking pics of the chapel at Emma, and went past, or through everywhere here..

    Thanks for commenting!

I do like wavy shapes as well :P.
The funny thing about #2 is that the portcullis (of Sidney Sussex college here) is actually fake and can't move at all, which is why I think it's an interesting spot.

Did you take any pictures in town as well, Peter? It would be interesting to see what other people pick out to take a photo of. We may well have passed each other, but there are quite a lot of people with camera's around

This is the closest I came to a wavy shape...

    Hei Ben'
Loved 3 but I not sure that chopping off feet in 2 works ... I suppose it kept him still for a long exposure
    And the 4th does 'speak'.

You live in a beautiful area.
I like the content of the 2nd and 4th photos most - not personal (no faces) but leading the eye into the picture. Composition is least pleasing to me in 1st as the eye leads into the middle of the photo, and the fellow on the right is very close to the edge and on his way out of the picture. I can see that you liked the shape of the bench, and thats why you did it that way, but.....

You two should check your camera memory cards - you probably have a shot of each other...

Ben - this brings back memories (I lived in Cambridge for 11 years). I like #1 with the lead-in lines of the bench, and you just squeezed in M&S! And also the one with the couple window-shopping. Have you tried any at night, like Sean did?
