    Steam Mill Bakery

The Steam Mill Bakery was an old flower mill, has been a bakery, restaurant. It has 3 levels and a basement but most of it has been closed for years. A local developer has been working on opening up all levels and it now combines a restaurant, cafe, speciality shops, artist gallery and yoga centre on top. Throughout they have keep the old timbers and bits of machinery .

I have known the developer for a couple of years and was able to get access for some shots. Here ae a sample.

    C & C welcome.

Peter, nice shots. I love old places such as this. The third and fourth pictures are great as they tell the story for me of a more craftsmans sort of time.

This wall is on the second floor. No idea what it was used for but what a great feature wall.

I like the story on these set of images, Peter. Thanks for sharing! I wish I could find something similar to this near my area.

Indeed, what a location. You could probably spend days in there.

I do like how you've treated the person coming up the stair. Just a straight shot would probably have been very boring. This now has energy in it.

    Thanks Willie and Donald,

I am sure I will go back again they are still doing renovations so there is the finished product in some areas to work on.

I did take the shot without the man on the stairs first then he turned up. I immediately saw the opportunity and pressed the shutter. Yes, the initial shot is quiet sterile without the human input.

As an aside Willie, I did order that autobiography on Ansell Adams after reading your glowing references. I pretty much only read biographies and photography books. I did see your images with the book in other posts and liked them very much.

They have a basement that they are yet to do up and the developer has asked if I would like to put some prints up (free of charge) on a large wall down there until they let it.
