This looks good but a little flat for my taste. A slight boost in contrast, clarity and sharpening result in this:

Andre, thank you for taking the time to comment and offer editing suggestions. Perhaps pushed a little to hard. As edited, the image appears a little "gritty" I will however have another look along the lines you have suggested.

I must admit to being hasty and applied the changes globally. Ideally I should have been more selective and not changed the water and probably toned down the crunchiness on the background rocks. This would have placed the emphasis on the trees and the foreground rock which is probably where it should be.

Andre, I had selectively edited the trees and foreground rocks and to a lesser degree the mountain side.
Perhaps a further subtle boost to the areas would be beneficial.....

Absolutely stunning capture. The golden autumn colours against the rugged volcanic cliffs create a beautiful sense of depth and scale. The reflections on the Missouri River add a lovely finishing touch. Great work!

I tried answering yesterday, but the forum was working terribly, and it timed out and lost my post when I tried to post it. I'll try again....

I agree that this is a very nice capture, but I also agree that it's somewhat flat. I also agree that local adjustments are the way to go. I can think of a number of different approaches for adding pop. As an illustration of one route, this has only two edits:

--a little more midtone contrast in the trees
--burning the rocks.

It's certainly not a complete edit, and it might not be the best approach, but I think it shows that more pop would help.
