Another backlit flower. This one needs something in the background to keep it from floating in outer space!

I'd actually go in the other direction. There's no way to keep it from floating in isolation, and the background is unappealing (to me). On the other hand, the flower itself is beautifully lit. I would turn the background pure black, crop to get rid of much of it, and leave the flower very slightly higher than centered (along the same lines as having a little extra 'weight' on the bottom edge of a mat). Making only those changes gives me the version below. If you object to people posting edits, let me know and I'll remove it.

I agree with you. The clean black background is much better.
As for editing my photos, I welcome edits from anybody. Edits will always be welcomed.

Yo my way of thinking, the obvious way to prevent a flower from being a 'floater' is to include the stem to act as an 'anchor'. Although not always easy with shallow focus depths.

I agree with you Geoff. In this case the stem goes straight back of the flower. As you can see in the opening post, the foliage did not help.
