Tulips
A trio of backlit tulips from my flower bed.

Comments always welcomed

Re: Tulips
Nice. The lighting on the petals is very well done.
What is the cause of the bright lines on the stems, especially on the right? The petals don't look like you have a strong direct light from the side.

Re: Tulips
Thank you both, your comments are always appreciated.
For this shot, I went back to my old stand by lighting set up. I have an eight foot wide south facing bay window which is about 18 inches deep. When the sky is overcast but still bright, it provides an ideal soft light that lights the flower mostly from the back. This brings out the fine texture of the translucent petals and creates a bright rim around the flowers. The rim light is more pronounced on the stems because they are darker and more opaque than the petals. If you take a close look, the rim around the petal will be quite obvious and can sometime be confused with over sharpening halos.
