    Adobe and Affinity

Well, that made life simpler ...

Affinity release a powerful and free update and a couple of weeks later Adobe hike their prices.

I have cancelled the Adobe subscription without any hesitation, but in fairness it was reasonably simple for me as I have been an Affinity user since V1.2 (albeit at a relatively low usage level) so there was not much of a learning curve.

It will be interesting to see how Adobe responds to Affinity’s move over the longer term.

I get Adobe via a university subscription, so I’m staying put

As I use the AI functionality in Photoshop, Affinity is not looking like a particularly good deal to me. The biggest risk I see with the current Canva strategy with Affinity Photo is that all development will stop on the base functionality and the only improvements will be with the paid-for service side.

We saw somthing similar when Google bought Nik. A bit of cleanup work at the beginning and then no updates.
