Every direction leads back to the beginning. Choice is movement, yet the destination is always the same

Daniel, your image suggests possible choices and paths, while the text reinforces the inevitability of returning to the starting point. Their union conveys a contemplative and philosophical atmosphere, with great delicacy.
    Well done !

Great shot Daniel! I like the overall simplicity of this image.

My only suggestiion would be to make a small local adjustment to brighten the inside of the room to bing that part of the scene out a bit more.

Thank you, Manfred, for your comment and edit. I had to sit with your suggestion for a while. The dark doorway for me held the mystery of the unknown. But overall, it does look better brightened.

In my experience, subtlety is the key when trying to figure out the approach in a scene like this. While the mystery of the dark room has some appeal, there is often a "sweet spot" where you get a balance between the mystery and showing enough of the interior to be interesting.

Where that point lies is definitly personal opinion.

I think Manfred's edit is an improvement. It adds interesting detail without detracting from the mysteriousness of the interior.

For my (possibly squiffy) eyes, the diagonal light/dark area on the LH wall suggests a staircase, but this may be an illusion, or hallucination on my part!

It adds to the mystery for me.

    Well done Daniel and Manfred,
    Dave

I've been thinking about how a title or tagline can influence a viewer's perception of an image. I recently showed this photo to a friend with no title or description and asked what he saw. His reply: 'a stairway to heaven and a doorway to hell.'

I was flabbergasted at how closely that echoed my own thoughts on choices. It showed me the image already carries its symbolic weight without needing words.

Yeah, I often feel I have a 'unique' view of the world!
