The lake appears to be a flooded plain. I have never seen trees and bushes growing in lakes. Nevertheless a beautiful photo. The bright cloud doesn't bother me for some reason. Maybe the peaceful scene simply draws my attention right back.

This photograph shows a vast plain where, at certain times, the waters spread across the lower areas, creating a mirror-like effect and explaining the presence of trees. On the small islands that emerge from these waters live simple people who, due to the geography, are obliged to use boats as their means of transport, whether for supplies or for other daily needs. I was standing on a higher point, observing the scene at sunset, when the light began to soften and the atmosphere took on that very special contemplative tone.

As for the large patch in the sky, it is simply the sun partially hidden by clouds. I admit it might have been better to place it to the right or to the left rather than leaving it in the centre, but at that moment my attention was more on the surrounding environment and the sense of calm it conveyed. The sun was already sinking towards the horizon and we decided to remain there a while longer. That extra time resulted in another photograph, which I also treasure and consider quite beautiful.

As with many of my images, this one was also taken in India, a country where I constantly find photographic and human inspiration but which is now suffering from terrible levels of air pollution.

Golden Silence
