Hello! I'm a new member from Virginia USA. I am a SAHM who also runs an e-commerce site with my husband. I have 2 kids under the age of 5 and a 1 year old Vizsla. I'm a bit busy! Regarding photography, my passion lies with architecture and macro photography, although, invariably, the majority of compliments on my work are generally for my portraiture. I'm here to learn from others with much more skill and talent than myself and to take advantage of any critiques shared regarding my work. I can't wait to start looking at photos!!

Hello everyone,

I'm from Kopavogur, Iceland. In my teens I used to enjoy taking pictures with my Canon AE-1. However, I haven't been doing much photography the last decades, leaving the picture taking mostly to my wife and when I take the odd photo myself I use my phone or ipod.
But now I want to start taking photos for real again. I'm planning on getting a new camera in a couple of months (something like a Sony Nex 6), but until then I'm borrowing my son's Nikon Coolpix S3000.
I came across CiC by chance and liked what I saw, so I decided to join. I look forward to learning and sharing with you guys.

You are following a very similar pattern to many people on here. I, for example, used to use an AV-1 before I stopped photography for many years before 'finding' photography again in the digital age.

I think you are the only current active member from Iceland. A number of members on here have visited Iceland to photograph the spectacular landscape and I would also love to do so one day.

My name is David. I live in Leeds UK but visit US a lot (like now) where our son lives.
I have always had some interest in photography and set out to make it a main interest in retirement. I also enjoy travel and wildlife which fits well with the photography. Last year my retirement vacation was to Pantanal Brasil and Argentina with my EOS 5d II. I've just updated to Mk III and am exploring its capabilities. I have shot many friends family weddings (as second) and friends find my informal contribution stands well with the professionals. Last year I shot a family wedding as #1 and will tae a friend's wedding this May as #1. I would like to enhance my pension in a small way by taking on weddings/social on an occasional commercial basis.
I have a lot to learn from this community.

Yes, Iceland seems to be a popular place to visit for landscape photography. All the time, I come across a lot of amazing photos of Icelandic landscape on various sites on the Internet.

Hello to all fellow photographers around the world! My name is Andrew Mirhej and I live in Eugene, Oregon in the States. I have been slowly ramping up photography from a hobby to slightly less than an obsession. I have been using a DSLR for almost 10 years and primarily enjoy travel photography, with "street photography" being my favorite. I have learned that I easily can get caught up in gear, so I try to avoid magazines that focus on the bright and shiny. My goal is to have my camera and its controls be second nature to me for at least 24 hours prior to buying a new one. I look forward to learning a lot from you all. My current wish list is for better use of on/off-camera flash and also getting better image stabilization to counteract great espresso.

Welcome to CiC. I see that you have already done as you said and been asking about your colour issues. You seem to have a lot of responses since you posted your question, and that's the way CiC usually works - everyone wants to help, and their are some very accomplished photographers here.

This is a friendly place, and it would also be good if you could edit your profile to let everyone know whereabouts you are in world, and how you’d like to be known (in CiC terms your “real name”). To do that, you click Settings (right at top), then Edit Profile (on left) and put your first name in the Real Name field and where you are (roughly) in the Location field. That way, your details will appear alongside all of your posts.

There are many experts here, in taking pictures, processing them, and pretty much everything else to do with photography - and all ready to share their expertise. There are some great tutorials too, have a look if you haven't already.

One word of warning. It sounds as if you may have a mild case of G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). Be careful, this can be a dangerous place to hang out

So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

Hi, I'm Vaughan 57 yrs old. I live in Johannesburg, S.A. I am a keen amateur photographer for about 18 months now. I have been reading tips and tutorials from various sites and implementing them on a nearly daily basis. My genre of photography I chose is shooting live bands at night in different venues. It does come with numerous challenges, namely low light..extreme light..UV light, smoke machines (and the publics) and various other hiccups. I enjoy live entertainment and go to gigs whenever I can (missus is understanding about my passion). I really battled in the beginning with this genre, as the band members are always jumping around as are the supporters and for the few reasons mentioned above. I am technically challenged when it comes to IT, so photoshop etc are a little beyond me. I have to shoot really well as post processing is a swear word currently. Fortunately there is no money involved, so what you see is what you get . I have had some very nice compliments and have been invited to do other shoots, but have refrained as my gear comprises of a few Canons (not the big boys) and a limited amount of lenses. I am learning everyday and hopefully one day, through mediums like this one I will go to new heights. Looking forward to posting in the forums and getting feedback on some pics. Regards V

Hello everybody at Cambridge in Colour (at last a site with the correct spelling of "colour"). I've been taking photographs for as long as I can remember, but only "seriously" since 2007 with the purchase of a Canon 40D (now long gone and moved on up). I gained my "L" with the RPS in 2010 and now hoping to get a "A" this coming March in Bath. I am a fan of the more unusual in imaging and as my present style is slowly coming to fufilment, I'm looking for advice and inspiration to take me beyond my present level. I rather fancy trying images of old buildings but with a twist - pastel, texture - who knows. I'm sure the forum has something for everybody and someone will inspire me.
