I think I am within the rule book this time...but don't take my word for it!
This was taken in a series when I was off doing my Karen Silkwood/Erin Brokovitch impersonation.
The focal length using the smaller sensor was 34 and no crop done in pp.
Can I stay in the game now?

Don't tell me Tony that the news in NZ has been dominated by one subject only this last week too? The Oz journalists have been absolutely besotted with the royal-like visitor and her entourage.

I haven't been to the Opera House in quite a while but where were you when you took this? I doubt if you were standing on the steps. I love the perspective. I feel dizzy just looking at it.

Didn't appreciate the significance of the Sydney 'Oprah' House gag until I read my newspaper today and saw what the good lady was doing.

I was in Sydney last week and had to smile about they way Oprah was received by the press. Aside from the 'O' on harbour bridge, on sunday there was a plane making smoke 'O's in the sky!

I had walked around the building and near the front on the side where the roof comes down almost to the ground there are some very interesting angles. Glad you like it

Zoom with your feet? Well after you, Sir

    Standard Lens Challenge

Maybe not a prizewinner but this view nicely explains why I normally use zooms.

But I did manage this one shot at the prescribed lens length.

Deadline is passed. Would any of you Mods like to add a poll or make a decision?

There are 14 including yours. and mine, Mike. So even taking those two out still leaves.... still leaves... er.... 12! Too many for a poll. If you like, I will select the top three?

Oh, Rats! I've been taking 35mm (well, they kept winding up 34 or 39mm) photos for this and, then, forgot to post one! I just wanted to try it with some snow..... (except with puppy dog eyes, too)

    Sounds good to me Rob.

Can we conclude that few of our members have prime lenses?

    Oh, Thank you, Mike!

    Standard Lens Challenge

34mm with Canon 450D (cropped sensor). The image is better if you click on it and view it in the lightbox with the black frame.

Thank you, also, for the challenge to focus/think outside the box a little! I wanted to get one of the mill, in town, but am still waiting for snow AND blue sky at the same time.

I'm not sure that Mike ever intended it to be a challenge in the sense of us having a vote and deciding a 'winner' (or maybe he did).

I'd like to suggest that the challenge was more to those of us who zoom all over the place to frame our pictures, to work with a fixed focal length and create an image with that 'restriction' in place (What do others think?).

I don't think there's an end point to this challenge. The opportunity exists for us to keep posting to this thread.

As you can see by the absence of anything from me, so far I have failed miserably!

    Mike are you there?

Are you happy to keep this running as a thread, in the same way as the portraits, landscapes, horses, etc?

Yes of course. We have plenty of comps going, so it will be interesting to see what members can come up with over time.
