Hi Caretaker
Welcome to CiC, we are very glad you decided to join us.
If you haven't already done so, it would be helpful if you could put your first name in your profile so that it appears on your posts. See the FAQ if you are not sure how to do this.
Just start a new thread to ask a new question/start a discussion, or reply to existing threads to join a discussion. Or, you could try posting some of your own images to get feedback. We are gentle on new people!
For advice on posting photos, please read this How can I post images here? And on the same subject, you may find this useful Posting image for comment and criticism

Have fun!
Are there not many members on this site? Or is the site for much more experienced photographers?
I am new to this site...hope that helps. I don't have any pictures up though...looking at what is already on here has me scared a little. I know I am good, but some people on here are amazing!
Matt
I think there are something like 6,000+ registered members, but like any site the majority of these do not take a regular, active part in the site.
It's not a place that's exclusive to experienced photographers. However, it's focus is on learning. This is place where experienced photographers freely and willingly offer support and advice to those who are less experienced. It is a serious site, in the sense that's it's not a place where 'Wow, that's a beauty' or 'Don't like that one' (which you see on some sites) is particularly welcome. We are here to stretch each other and ourselves and to engage in a process of continual learning and continuous improvement. To that end, we try and encourage constructive comment and criticism.
Hope you feel that it's for you and that you are able to come along for the ride.
ps - Should've added - It's also a place where you can get the most knowledgeable technical help and advice (but not from me 'cause I'm not into the technical bits)

Hi rmccraw, it's good to know that there is another member out there apart from the Admin I thought maybe i'd posted my hello in the wrong section I have only been on the forum for 4 days but i'd only recieved a generic post from Admin before yours.
Okay! Then, I'll say "hello!" .....Hellooooo! Very warm welcome to the site - both Matt and Mr. McCraw! Hang around for a bit, start a thread and get some input - every one is friendly and kind (not to mention the wicked sense of humor that keeps springing up! ) I've only been here since late September and was very shy at first - well, I still really am. It helps if you just jump on in and explore. It's photography heaven, here. And, definitely for beginners and advanced alike. Enjoy!
There are some very good photographers on this site, but don't let that put you off. Most of our many members are between beginner and 'good'. But everyone considers themselves as improving - no matter how good they are. Have you read this NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here it tells you how best to get started. Just ask if you have a problem. I've got lots of problems, as people here will no doubt tell you.
Hi Katy, thanks for the welcome I have a friend called Katy and at the moment she's in Kenya with her Canon 5D luckily
I have been taking pictures for years but have rarely ventured into the realms of the Manual button, but in the last year i have really got to love it it's why i have always wanted a good camera and the 7D is excellent. I got fed up with people asking me, "how did you take that shot?" and unfortunately not knowing i have just completed a course and i'm moving onto the next level of it in Feb of next year. But I have to say i'm liking what i'm creating with the 7D
