I've had it for years and generally turn to it when I just want a subtle change to my images. The fact that they are now offering it for free tends to suggest that version 6 will be launched soon (and I will be upgrading it).
My one word of advice, especially when using one of the legacy film filters that add a grain simulation is that you want a very low noise original. Simulated film grain on top of any digital noise looks awful.
Sometimes I want something a bit more than subtle, and some of the more funky filters have surprised me (pleasantly) in the past.
I got Film Pack 1 when I first got DxO, I wasn't that impressed and never upgraded. However, it does seem to offer more than it did way back in ye olden days of about 4/5 years ago.
Think I'll shall have a look.
Well, if you go the the DxO website, it's on offer at £39 reduced from £59. So even if 6 is on the way, free must be better. I just got it for fun

Is this going to be in English?
Yes. You should be able to click "English" at the bottom of the linked page. But in any event you have a choice of language when you install.
Da
Oh no you didn't!
I got something called Viewpoint. It had Film types in it. Was this a early copy of what is now called Film Pack.
Viewpoint integrated into what was then DxO Optics. Film Pack exists as a Plug-in to Photoshop (or Lightroom or Elements or as a stand alone).
DxO Labs makes two plugins.
1. Viewpoint does perspective corrections; and
2. FilmPack does film emulations.
They can be used as either a standalone or as plug-ins to both Photoshop or DxO PhotoLab.
Warning: I have only now installed this, and the information I am posting is just from their website.
If I read the German correctly, they are offering two things: a free version of the basic package and a discounted version of the full package, which I think is what they call the "elite" version. If you go to the bottom of the e-mail you get from the link above, you will find this:
If my vestigial German serves me right, this is an offer to purchase the full version at a discounted price of $99 rather than the full $129. It provides a different code to use, "PROFIFOTO1017". This offer is also only until December 31. The "kaufen" button at the bottom means "buy".Verpassen Sie nicht unser Angebot für die aktuellste Version von DxO FilmPack. Nutzen Sie dafür den Code PROFIFOTO1017.
So profitieren Sie von unserem Angebot:
Besuchen Sie unseren Webshop: shop.dxo.com
Wählen Sie Ihre Edition von
DxO FilmPack 5
Geben Sie in dem Feld "PromoCode" diesen Code ein: PROFIFOTO1017
Schliessen Sie den Kaufprozess ab.
Dieses Angebot ist gültig bis 31. Dezember 2017.
There are two editions; Essentials and Elite. Showing at £39 and £79 respectively. I presume the code is what makes the offer free?
Then I checked my PS filters and found I was already at v.5.5 so am already there. I too have used it for a number of years when I have wanted a different effect. Viewpoint too.
I see they even do an app version Dxo One for iOS devices too!
